So as you may know (or not, I can’t read your mind so I don’t know one way or the other), Super Smash Bros. Brawl came out last night at midnight (about 2 hours ago as i write this). As you probably don’t know, last night I went to a Brawl Tournament (and got 3rd place. thank you, thank you, you’re too kind) so i got to see and play the game before a lot of people (except those of you in Japan where the game has been out for a while now), not way before, but still. Overall the game looks fantastic, the graphics are kickass, there are a ton of new stages with nifty effects (try playing the animal crossing stage at 8pm on a Saturday), you can use 4 different kinds of controls and remap the controls to different buttons as you wish, there are tons of different play modes including classic 1-p, teams, 4-p free for all, not to mention the Kingdom Hearts-y single player campaign: The Subspace Emmisary which looks to be rather nifty. Alot of the older stages and items carried over to the new game but there are of course new ones as well. The gameplay itself thought seems to be roughly the same: d-pad/joystick to move, A to use/grab items/punch, B for special moves, and of course shield grab dodge are all there. The nifty bit that is new is a move called Final Smash. Different for each player, this thing is basically a one hit kill, but can only be used after acquiring an item called the Smash Ball. The problem is that, because the button to use the Final Smash is just B (no direction) by default you can’t aim it beyond facing a certain direction then activating it. (this actually resulted in me losing in the aforementioned tournament. there is this really nifty arrow of doom that shoots off to the right. problem is, the opponent is just to my left. *shakes fist*). Keep in mind I have yet to actually sit down and play the game for any length of time (it WAS just released about 2 hours ago), so i reserve the right to be tottally incorrect about any factual data, opinions, myths, legends, etc regarding the game. And now, sleep! Zettageek
