Heroes Chapter 14 Distractions
Okay I literally JUST finished watching this episode, and there is no way I can keep from blurting this out for another few seconds so if you haven’t seen this episode, skip the next paragraph. In fact, you may just want to skip the entire article, because with a series like Heroes, you can’t really talk about an episode without giving away spoilers for it.
SWEET UNHOLY DEMON-LOVING CHEESE-LORDS OF VENUS IT’S NATHAN! This totally means I’m going to need to re-arrange my relationship map, because they were at entirely separate ends of the web.
Hiro is a lot better at manipulating people than he appears to be, not only did he get his dad to leave him in America, he tricked him into making his sister executive vise president! I am honored by your almighty people skills, oh great master of time and space! Regarding Niki/Jessica, you totally could tell what was going to happen when she had the taser on the table within reach of Jessica. I mean she almost deserves the scars she’s going to get when those burns fade. But right at the very end, I was surprised when Micah couldn’t tell it was Jessica not Niki, but even more surprised that Niki could make the glass shake when she hit the mirror from the other side. It would be interesting if Jessica starts to threaten D.L., Niki might get upset enough to “break through” the glass, and then there would be 2 of them (I doubt that Jessica would threaten Micah, because she seems to be mainly trying to protect him just like Niki is, albeit with slightly less moral means).
I’ve also come to the shocking conclusion that Claude (invisible guy) is a jackass. The problem is that he’s a jackass that knows what he’s doing, and in this show the only other people that know what’s going on, are Sylar and HRG. Though Peter’s way of recalling powers seems to work better than Claude’s, that’s probably because it makes more sense psychologically. People recall things by remembering or being shown similar things, like when you see someone walking their dog and you realize you need to pick up dog food for your own dog. With Peter, if he remembers how the people made him feel, he will remember how to use that power. He needs to be careful though, if he “remembers” too many at a time, the plutonium on the note cards, to borrow Claude’s analogy, will reach critical mass, and presto coma/explosion.
As for Claire, I’d have to say that her birth mother seems a lot more motherly than Mrs. Bennet, but that’s probably because she’s had her kid go missing for 16-ish years, and feels like she has a lot to make up. As for Nathan and Claire, it’ll be interesting when Peter and Claire realize that they’re related. Also; cool factoid about Hayden Panettiere, who plays Claire; she was the voice of Kairi in Kingdom Hearts, so she deserves extra nerd points for that.
PS random cool little factoid; Kaito Nakamura (Hiro’s dad) has the license plate number NCC-1701 which is the registry number of the constitution class Enterprise on Star Trek, and Sulu was played by the same actor. Live long and prosper!
